New Poll Shows Momentum For Fortuno and Statehood: Both Lead By More Than 5%

new poll shows that incumbent Governor Luis Fortuno has taken the lead in the gubinatorial race with 47.2% of the vote.  Challenger and Popular Democratic Party (PDP) member Garcia Padilla followed in second place with 41.5%, Independence candidate Commissioner Juan Dalmau Ramírez had 4% of the vote, and the three remaining candidates received 7.3%. The poll was conducted from October 19, 2012 to October 22, 2012.Read More »New Poll Shows Momentum For Fortuno and Statehood: Both Lead By More Than 5%

Foreign Taxation in Puerto Rico

A United States Senate subcommittee investigating U.S. companies that shelter overseas profits from taxation has found that Microsoft withheld up to $4.5 billion in federal taxes from 2009 to 2011 by transferring profits to a Puerto Rican subsidiary.

A Bipartisan Call for Equal Rights and Responsibilities in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico’s Resident Commissioner Pedro Pierluisi ended his remarks at the Democratic National Convention last night with the assurance that President Obama “will stand with” Puerto Ricans “the day they choose to have the same rights and responsibilities as their fellow American citizens.”
