At yesterday’s White House news briefing, press secretary Josh Earnest could not confirm rumors that Pope Francis and President Obama discussed Puerto Rico’s debt situation at their meeting at the White House. Earnest responded to a reporter’s question by noting that he would follow up with press if he learned that the issue had come up during the pontiff’s visit, either between the two leaders or among their staff.
