Tesla May Aid Puerto Rico In Restoring And Renovating Power Grid

On Friday, Elon Musk took to twitter to inform that Tesla has had experience in implementing solar power grids in remote islands.

Musk’s tweet read as follows: “The Tesla team has done this for many smaller islands around the world, but there is no scalability limit, so it can be done for Puerto Rico too. Such a decision would be in the hands of the PR govt, PUC, any commercial stakeholders and, most importantly, the people of PR.”

After the initial tweet, Governor Ricardo Roselló tweeted back and forth with  Elon Musk, the exchange went as follows:

Governor Ricardo Rosello:

“@elonMusk Let’s talk. Do you want to show the world the power and scalability of your #TeslaTechnologies? PR could be that flagship project.”

Elon Musk:

“I would be happy to talk. Hopefully, Tesla can be helpful.”

Governor Ricardo Rosello:

“Let’s talk today; I will be in touch. I have no doubt #Teslasolar will work w/ #PuertoRico to globally showcase the power of its technology.”

Elon Musk:

“Sounds good, I look forward to talking later today.”

After this exchange, Musk went on to answer tweets from other accounts. In his response to a question regarding the cost of the Powerwall, which he states that in only includes taxes and shipping shipping costs. Also states that “Tesla already has a Powerwall install team in PR and they are going to be sending experienced installers from continental US to hire and train local team as fast as possible.”
By Tesla bringing this Powerwall to Puerto Rico, renewable energy may begin to further develop and modernize Puerto Rico’s electrical grids.
